Judo is a well famed Japanese martial art form derived originally from jujutsu. There are various techniques applied in Judo, which are broadly categorized into five types: throwing techniques (Nage-Waza), grappling techniques (Katame- Waza), body striking techniques (Atemi- Waza), blocks and perries (Uke- Waza), receiving techniques and break- fall techniques (Ukemi). They are again sub categorized in total 135 recognized techniques.
But in this blog, I will briefly discuss about various hand throwing techniques in Judo Montreal:
Hand throwing techniques or Te-Waza are those which effectively use the hands or arms to throw the opponent. There are in total 15 hand throwing techniques which are constantly used by judo practitioners.
Seoi Nage: It is one of the most effective and influential Waza meaning lifting shoulder throw or back carry throw, which is used to bring your opponent against your back and throw him over your shoulder.
Ippon-seoi-nage: It is one of the art form of Seoi Nage which basically means one arm shoulder throw.
Kata guruma: It means shoulder wheel. In this waza, the player lifts his opponent onto his shoulder, spins him around and then throws him on the ground.
Kibisu Gaeshi or one hand reversal: Here the player grasps the opponents heel with one hand and then push him over onto his back.
Morote Gari or two hands reap: In this waza, the player grapples both the opponent’s legs with both the arms and then tackling him onto his back.
